The idea for Stock the Pond started as a light-hearted conversation at a local Beacon Hill bar. We wanted to find a way for some of our friends to meet each other as well as a way to meet new people ourselves. We discussed the basic concept of getting two friends to meet in a group rather than on a blind date.
Our solution was to host a party and have our friends help create the guest list. Our friends were instructed to hand-select some of their favorite single friends (co-workers, neighbors, crushes, whomever), invite them to the party, and encourage them to do the same. This way, we would end up with a guest list of not only of our friends, but of our friends’ friends, too. In other words, we'd be, you know, "stocking the pond" with our friends' finest!
Regardless of what city you live in, people always want to know: "Where is the best place to meet someone?" The answer is almost as clichéd as the question: There is no best place to meet someone. But in our experience the best way to meet someone is definitely through friends.
With our party plans in place we decided it would be nice to help out some of our favorite charities along the way.
Thank you for taking the dive! Together, we have contributed thousands of dollars to charitable organizations and had a heck of a good time along the way. And did we mention we already have our first Stock the Pond engagement? Stay tuned!
